Infrastructure Commercial Design Guidelines
dsquared were appointed to undertake a detailed sustainability infrastructure review for the next stages of development at Adelaide Airport, including over 20,000sqm of new commercial space (The District Centre) and the expansion of the airport terminal itself.
The study looked at establishing optimised solutions for the delivery of energy, water, and ICT services, managing waste, and the provision of transport services.
Solutions considered including modular/stand alone systems, centralised renewable and low carbon systems, and precinct scale shared system approaches. All new buildings were modelled using a combination of Sefaira and IES computer simulation software and the proposed building designs optimised.
The outcomes established were used to inform the new Development Guidelines for the District Centre and dsquared subsequently assisted Walter Brooke Architects in the development for the final design guidelines themselves.
